# Review and approval

> Every snippet, prompt and Brain item has a status: Draft, AI generated, Under review, Approved, Deprecated or Archived. See who approves what, and what each status does.

Every snippet, prompt and Brain item says where it stands, so you know what your team has approved and what is still waiting for someone.

## The six statuses

| Status | What it means | Does it work? |
| - | - | - |
| **Draft** | Still being written. | Yes |
| **AI generated** | Written by an AI: saved from [Draft with AI](/draft/overview), or by an AI assistant connected to your Brains. A person has not approved it yet. | Yes |
| **Under review** | Waiting for an approver. | Yes |
| **Approved** | Approved. Ask SprintBrain prefers approved items. | Yes |
| **Deprecated** | Out of date. | Yes, with a warning |
| **Archived** | Kept, but switched off. | No |

Approved items show no badge: it is how most of a library stands. Every other status shows a small badge next to the name, in the dashboard, the extension and on your phone.

Everything you had before statuses existed starts as **Approved**, with no reviewer named, because nobody formally reviewed it.

## Who approves

* **Team content** (snippets and prompts in a team folder): a team admin.
* **Personal content**: you approve your own.
* **Brain items**: always personal, so you approve your own.

Anyone who can edit an item can set Draft or Under review. Only an approver can set Approved, Deprecated or Archived, or move an item out of them.

When a teammate who is not an admin edits an approved team snippet or prompt, or moves one into a team folder, it goes back to **Under review** until an admin approves it again. An admin's own edits keep it approved.

## Change a status

Open the snippet, prompt or Brain item. The status sits next to the **About** button at the top of the editor: click it and pick another status. It saves straight away, separately from the text you are editing.

The menu also says who last approved, deprecated or archived the item, and when.

## The Review page

Click **Review** in the sidebar. The number next to it counts what is waiting.

**Waiting for approval** lists every snippet, prompt and Brain item that is not approved:

* **Waiting** shows Draft, AI generated and Under review. **Deprecated** and **Archived** show those.
* **Snippets**, **Prompts** and **Brains** narrow the list to one kind.
* Click a name to open it. **Approve** approves it in one click if you are its approver; the status menu next to it offers the other statuses.

**Answer feedback** lists what people said about [Ask SprintBrain](/ask/overview) answers.

## What Deprecated and Archived do

**Deprecated** items keep working everywhere, with a warning:

* When you insert a deprecated snippet, the card that confirms the insertion says: *This snippet is deprecated. Check it is still right before you send it.* The fill-in form shows the same line at the top.
* The snippet menu and the extension popup show a **Deprecated** badge, and the Context button marks deprecated Brain items before you add them to a chat.
* On your phone, a deprecated snippet or Brain item shows the warning when you open it, and when you copy it.
* [Ask SprintBrain](/ask/overview) treats it as out of date and says so.

**Archived** items stop working, but stay in the dashboard so you can restore them:

* An archived snippet does not expand and does not appear in the extension or on your phone.
* An archived prompt does not appear in the extension or on your phone.
* An archived Brain item is never added to an AI chat and does not appear on your phone.
* Ask SprintBrain ignores archived items.

To restore an archived item, open it in the dashboard and pick another status.
