# Import and export

> Save your snippets to a JSON file, or bring snippets in from a SprintBrain or Text Blaze export.

## Export

On the Snippets page, click **Export**. SprintBrain downloads `sprintbrain-snippets-` followed by today's date, as a `.json` file.

The file holds every snippet you can see, with its name, trigger, body in every language, folder name and pin.

## Import

SprintBrain reads three kinds of file:

* A SprintBrain export.
* A Text Blaze export.
* A plain list of snippets, each with a name, a trigger (or `shortcut`) and a body (or `snippet`, `content`, `text`).

What happens on the way in:

* A snippet with no name, no trigger or no body is skipped.
* Triggers are cleaned: a leading `/`, `::` or `;;` is removed and characters a trigger can't hold become `_`.
* Languages other than EN, IT, ES, FR and Multi become EN.
* Imported snippets arrive without a folder. Importing the same file twice adds the snippets twice.

## Coming from Text Blaze

Text Blaze fields and conditions keep working: `{formtext: ...}`, `{formdate: ...}`, `{formmenu: ...}`, `{time: ...}`, `{if: ...}`, `{elseif: ...}` and `{else}`. See [Fields](/text-snippets/dynamic-fields) and [Formulas](/text-snippets/formulas).
